Adults Jiu Jitsu

A grappling martial art without striking, Jiu Jitsu was developed in Brazil throughout the 20th century before exploding in popularity after it was showcased in the first “Ultimate Fighting Championship” where it was shown to be an incredibly effective means of self-defence which could overcome far bigger and stronger opponents.

Since its exposure on the world-stage Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has grown rapidly and continues to do so, owing to a potent mix of the Art’s effectiveness, the community which Jiu Jitsu breeds and the ability for people of all ages to practice the sport in a safe and welcoming environment.

We teach Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, using the GB curriculum as found in over 900 schools across 6 continents worldwide. We run classes for kids from the ages of 3 upwards, and adults at all levels of ability and fitness.

The effectiveness of the Gracie Barra programmes has led to Gracie Barra becoming the largest and most successful Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team in the world.

GB1

At Gracie Barra Street we follow the Gracie Barra curriculum taught in all Gracie Barra schools in over 900 locations around the world.

The Gracie Barra Fundamentals Program teaches the basic principles of effective fighting to individuals like you. Its structure condenses an immense diversity of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into core fundamental moves combined intelligently and safely to optimize your learning.

GB2

While the Fundamentals Program focuses on the building blocks and basic principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Advanced Program is built on high-level techniques and drills that start shaping the students game flow through the development of reflexes, speed and reaction time as well as transitions between one technique and another.

NoGi Jiu-Jitsu (Submission wrestling)

NoGi is a style of Jiu-Jitsu which takes place in rash guard and shorts, without the kimono.

It focuses more on the wrestling aspect and is much faster and high paced than its Gi counterpart. The biggest advantage of NoGi training is that it translates well to both MMA and real-life situations.

However, if a student wishes to progress through the belt ranking system, GB1 or GB2 Gi classes also need to be taken.
